Titanium Grade 9, sometimes referred to as 'half 6-4', is a titanium alloy containing 3% aluminium and 2.5% vanadium. This composition provides it with 20 to 50% greater mechanical strength than commercially pure (CP) titanium grades, while still maintaining superior formability and weldability compared to Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5). This balance of strength and workability makes Titanium Grade 9 an excellent choice for various demanding applications.
Commercial applications for Titanium Grade 9 include tubing in aircraft and hydraulic systems, corrosion-resistant pipes and vessels, and recreational products such as golf club shafts, tennis racquets, and bicycle frames.
